Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 beta preview

Adobe Labs

At Adobe Labs, you have the beta of Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 (dagger), Adobe Fireworks and Adobe Soundbooth ! You can install the beta of Dreamweaver parallel to the existing one, but you can only run one instance of the application (or beta CS4 or CS3, for example). However, Adobe recommends that you perform a backup of all settings, emphasizing that being a beta does not guarantee anything about any problems.

Among the most interesting, aside from the completely redesigned interface, available in the Dreamweaver beta include:

  • Live View with the introduction of the engine open source WebKit (the same one used by Safari and Adobe AIR) is now possible to work with code and preview at the same time, with a yield WYSIWYG never seen before
  • Code hinting support (auto-completion / synopsis) for some of the Ajax frameworks: jQuery, Prototype, and Spry (too bad it was not also included Mootools)
  • Integration with Subversion! And it was now!
  • Support (Native) Adobe AIR - so just additional extensions

Adobe on TV ( http://tv.adobe.com ) you can follow the demonstrations of these beta!

Approaches, therefore, time to upgrade the entire suite ...

Web2.0: Adobe is trying to Apollo?

Apollo is the code name (for now) of an ambitious project in the world for Adobe RIAs (Rich Internet Applications) and Web 2.0, including Ajax. Someone remembers Macromedia Contribute, Macromedia Central to someone else. There is, also, who sees in Apollo simple union - or opportunity - to bring together elements of Flash and PDF (something which has already been feasible with Flash Paper)!

WEB 2.0: beta password

2006 was the year of Ajax or more specifically the so-called web 2.0 generation. The most important was perhaps the introduction or explanation of a nova communication strategy in the Internet community. It was clearly evident in a very effective tendency to involve the entire Internet community, developers and end-user in the search for "software" made to measure the user.
The interesting thing is that this approach has begun to spread like wildfire, involving entities that are considered - wrongly - above all suspicion.
Adobe's initiative to establish the Adobe Labs is a prime example of the influence of web 2.0 on the whole Internet community. The ability to contribute to the definition of a software from the beginning is new to the "big software houses." It is certainly not new to the Open Source world that always uses the Contrini of the Internet community for the implementation of software and Web experiences
In open source, however, this approach was more a necessity than a characteristic of open-source software. The open-source software is by definition a collective collaboration.
Adobe was not the only, Microsoft, again in 2006, opened the doors of his blog dedicated to Internet Explorer 7. All have contributed to release of the new Microsoft browser, or so - Microsoft - has made us believe.
Being able to download the beta version of Adobe CS 3 Phoptoshop is a great result. We thank the web2.0 for this, not so much to Ajax - as we know - the end is not innovitivo per se, such as technology, to the limit as an approach to Web development
