Update: Blogbabel closed - all services, widgets and plugins are no longer active
When you must "verify" a new technology, the best thing to do is find an application to write and work hard to achieve it. In this way you learn a lot in a short time. You have to have a goal, really! I state that I have nothing to do with Blogbabel Italy. Some will think that I work for them ...
Absolutely not! The reason I chose to accomplish this is due to the fact that I had the code in Flash (Actionscript 3.0 final release) and I wanted to see what was going on re-writing the application in AIR / HTML. And then, now, I am attached to this "smash" the ranking Blogbabel
To achieve this "first" AIR application after numeose tests, I only used Dreamweaver. Blogbabel Rank totalemte is written in AIR / HTML. To install the runtime download Adobe AIR and click here .

Great news for AIR developers. It was finally released version 1.0 ! End of beta then! New SDK (vital for building in areas such as Aptana Studio , Eclipse , etc ...) and update extensions Dreamweawer and Flash CS3 Professional in Italian ! Until yesterday, in fact, it was not possible to develop an AIR application with Flash CS3 Profession in Italian. Now the new menu for creating RIA AIR is available and running! You can find all the updates (security fixes and extensions) directly on the site.
Another novelty is the official launch of Adobe Open Source , a new website that will track all the latest in open source, not just Adobe. This becomes, then, the reference point for developers who can travare interesting contributions with demos, source code and more, such as support for open source projects Tamarin and BlazeDS .
Soon we will see how to develop a simple AIR application with Flash and Dreamweaver!

Some, quite rightly, argue about the Adobe AIR, Adobe Integrated Runtime (formerly Apollo) offered by Adobe. What are we talking about? After all AIR is still a beta ( the latest release is 12/12/2007 - the beta 3 ) and its success, including whether we will or not depends on many factors.

Because of its ability to communicate with the server, the object XmlHttpRequest (XHR), used in the technology Ajax (which stands for Asynchronous JavaScript and XML, which should be pronounced "egiacs" even if we Italians prefer "aiacs"), has a security lock that prevents you from running applications outside the domain in which it operates. This protection is necessary to prevent Javascript Injection (techniques of "injection" extremely dangerous code in order to break the system) of various kinds, with the ultimate objective of "break" in the system.
This limit is now taken into serious consideration and you're thinking, somehow, to solve it - XmlHttpRequest object directly - without compromising security (see also: Third Proposal for cross-site extensions to XMLHttpRequest ).
However, the situation today is as follows:

Adobe releases AIR (formerly code-named Apollo), which stands for Adobe Integrated Runtime, and then, "successor" of Apollo. You can download the beta version released on June 11 here: AIR downloads
At the same time it is issued to build 0.2.8.15171 Aptana IDE development environment dedicated to exceptional developers HTML, PHP, Rails, Javascript and now with support for AIR.
The Aptana IDE is a free, open-source, cross-platform, JavaScript-focused development environment for building Ajax applications. It features code assist on JavaScript, HTML, and CSS languages, FTP / SFTP support and a JavaScript debugger to troubleshoot your code.
A strong competitor of Adobe Dreamweaver, for at least the coders, seen that it is a free software can be integrated, inter alia, with Eclipse . Mysteriously, then, Adobe has released an extension to build Adobe AIR applications only for Dreamweaver CS3, leaving users of version 8! Aptana, then, is an excellent alternative to Dreamweaver CS3, for those who want to experience the development package for Adobe AIR!
However, in Aptana the lack of a WYSIWYG environment, excellent in Dreamweaver, it decreases the potential, as already mentioned are primarily addressed in the Code. Dreamweaver, especially with the release of CS3, then offers a complete and perfect with Flash CS3, Photoshop CS3 and all the other tools of the new Adobe Creative Suite, a feature completely absent in IDEs like Aptana.
The Aptana IDE, comuqnue is, is spectacular, understandable and all the vital features for a programmer, project management, previews on browser installed, auto-save, file comparison, display line numbers, configurable editor, collapse of the "taggature "XML embedded, high-level debugger, support Italian and much more.
Good management of dynamic documentation that provides access to the W3C specification, and JavaScript libraries (best known as Web2.0 Dojo, JQuery, Mootools, Yahoo (YUI) and Scriptaculous, all integrated into a single environment despite proper documentation is taken directly from the network!
Aptana is available for Windows (XP and Vista), Macintosh, Linux and Eclipse Plugin for. On the site are many features available, including a Aptana.tv .
So, for those already developed or those who want to start developing applications in Adobe AIR ( here you will find a video tutorial to begin developing Adobe AIR applications ), Aptana is a functional and comfortable, well-integrated network, and also accompanied by Plugin and extensions, some for particular browsers like FireFox for debugging.
Last note: Some functions, such as AIR Plugin, require the installation of the Java runtime !

Why go to Apollo to display HTML and dynamic content when a browser already allows it? Why use Joost Net TV to see if a browser already allows it?
Because the producer browser does not have added two simple functions within them:
- Windowless windows
- P2P Object
Windowless windows
This simple feature would make the most of the HTTP connection and make it really useful browsers. To open windows (pop-up in practice) with only the title and without edges, if anything, in transparency, increase the production of widgets to be exploited with the normal browser, like what is now Apollo . With a careful study on the safety (as I think now is the only reason for this limit) would open up very interesting scenarios.
P2P Object
As we all know by now all browsers supportono the object XMLHttpRequest , which has given rise to an endless amount of so-called Ajax applications. This object, usable through Javascript, is able to provide an HTTP channel - parallel - scriptable client, both for the ìinvio that for data reception.
Sooner or later, as anticipated in various other blog, Adobe will insert a P2P in Flash. Why not do the same thing in the browser? An object of this type combined with Windowless features allow you to create applications like Joost-without installing anything on your machine, ensuring cross-compatibility worthy of the Internet, thereby increasing the efficiency of production (now Joost is developed for each system operational, which is very heavy - both in money and time - in fact, the beta will follow ...).
In short windows with RSS FEED text, audio and video to be placed where we want on our desktops, in true W3C standards. Opening is TCP channels directly from Javascript, with the possibility of data exchange endless. Clearly the intention is small and the "crime" is high, hackers, spam and phishing are lurking and moves of this kind terrorize a bit 'all ...

Adobe has finally released the alpha version of Apollo . We are still far from the final version, but you can check out some of its functionality due to Demo applications (. air) proposals online. The installation ( Apollo runtime ) of this Alpha weighs about 6Mb - for Windows. The Demo (Apollo sample applications) do not come to weigh even 600Kb. After installing the Apollo runtime will seem nothing changed on your PC (not added any links on the desktop or taskbar), even though you have installed - in fact - the new browser from Adobe! See Web2.0: Adobe is trying to Apollo?
