A new update, with apologies from the team of Joost , they also grappling with bureaucracy (which is part of the beta testing):

As you may know - we use SSL technology to protect your privacy. Ounces
every other year or so These certificates need to be renewed. That
moment came, for the first time in our Existence, yesterday.
Unfortunately we did not Realize That We had a copy hardwired into the
0.9.1 client by accident.

On this occasion have been improved:

Also we've taken the opportunity to upgrade to our Long Term Storage
machines; They are more than 4 times as efficient now. So if you have
experienced any stuttering in the past - do try again and tell us if our
fixes have worked.

Joost 0.9.1

He was issued a revision of Joost , the 0.9.1. There were, for now, the official release notes, no CHANGELOG, probably because these are minor changes, some minor compared to the previous patch. The only thing I noticed, when you close Joost (unless I missed was already in 0.9), is that a window on the desktop, next to the trayicon, which informs how to get back on Joost.

The only notes I have found are:

From 0.9.1 onwards you can Set The Window to be always on top by right clicking the background and Selecting the Relevant option.

Joost 0.9

She was released the new version of Joost (The Venice Project), I'm trying for some time as a beta tester (thanks Thomas ;) ). The interface is very intuitive and always well made, has been enriched with a new feature that allows you to split and see - better - the content, the Channel Catalog:

Even the login has been improved, now requires a unique username. The website has been revised and are beginning to see some more options for managing your profile (low until recently).

You begin to see the first alliance to improve the content, probably the most important thing even if it was not clear. With the new division of the Channel Catalog is clear the new Sci-Fi Channel Alliance Ataltis, for all lovers of Science Fiction.

The Widget (used only in fullscreen mode) are very well kept and the whole interface resembles those created in Adobe Flash (I had long chat with the friendly friends Joost ;) !) However there is some bug (and promptly sent - as a good beta tester), often leave a little Widget 'on their own, sfarfallando here and for the screen ... at least on my desk (maybe it was better to use Adobe Flash?) .

Adobe Apollo Alpha Release

Adobe has finally released the alpha version of Apollo . We are still far from the final version, but you can check out some of its functionality due to Demo applications (. air) proposals online. The installation ( Apollo runtime ) of this Alpha weighs about 6Mb - for Windows. The Demo (Apollo sample applications) do not come to weigh even 600Kb. After installing the Apollo runtime will seem nothing changed on your PC (not added any links on the desktop or taskbar), even though you have installed - in fact - the new browser from Adobe! See Web2.0: Adobe is trying to Apollo?

Emulator Assembler 6502

While we're on the subject of nostalgia, here is a nice emulator of the historian of the 6502 microprocessor , mounted in the 80s in the console and computers such as Apple, Nintendo NS and the Commodore 64 (which she graduated in 6510, ...). This cute little gem is written entirely in JavaScript, running on virtually all browsers (Safari, Opera), with the only downside being a little slow. But worth it. On site ( http://www.6502asm.com/ ) found some nice examples, but curious lens.

Crysis: Photorealistic Rendering

, che verrà usato nell'attesissimo titolo Crysis , sparatutto in soggettiva per PC e console Next Generation (presumibilmente Xbox 360 e PlayStation 3). The software company Crytek, who wrote the beautiful Far Cry and Far Cry Instincts , has developed a graphics engine with exceptional features, the CryEngine 2, which will be used in the highly anticipated title Crysis , first-person shooter for PC and console Next Generation (presumably Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3).
We must now admit that the level of detail rendering (real time) is reached as to make it really difficult to distinguish images of the game and those of a normal photograph. See for example the two pictures below and try to understand what is artificial and what is not (more pictures are available on 7 new Crysis screenshots to real-life comparison - the Blog youNewb ).

A video demo of the game, although the resolution does it justice, it can give an idea of what to expect. Below I have added the video editor of levels, so you feel like you are created these wonderful locations. If you look on YouTube you will find even more: click here .

Xopus: WYSIWYG XML editor

Xopus is an XML editor (HTML) in WYSIWYG mode working inside the browser. I had already noticed some time ago, thanks to an article released on Ajaxian . I mention this now because it remains an attractive proposition in view web2.0/editor. It is an interesting experience! Xopus has developed really well (with Italian support), with an excellent implementation of the context menu, although still not fully cross-browser, the current release 3.1 is supported only Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 6 and 7 ) although developers have promised as soon as at least a version compatible with Firefox (February 1 has been released in alpha version 3.1.1 compatible with Firefox 2.0 +).

As discussed elsewhere, the question of compatibility (cross browser) via the browser, and penalizes slows the development of tools that, even without resorting to special technologies like Adobe Flash or Java applet, could bring a significant contribution to the Community! Conttibuto prevented - at last - from unnecessary internal battles of the current producers of browsers: IE, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Safari, ...!

Viewing the demo you can see something more than just HTML editors, to put the word poor. Xopus proposes both the traditional structure of the editor, and advanced features of Microsoft Word style. It is possible, in fact, inserted within the page real smart objects that meet certain characteristics, making Xopus a particular case.

As indicated on the website:

Xopus is a good solution for any business That has a back-end content management system and front-to-end publishing systems and Therefore Which two systems use the examination information. That structure to information, to make ends meet Both, Therefore is a must.

Poete watch the video demonstration that introduces the advanced editing features. Also you can try a demo directly.

FastStone Capture

Apropos of Screen Capture, mark this FastStone Capture is free for home use, which is really well done. Unlike WinSnap , which I mentioned in a previous post , the interesting and useful feature allows the capture of scrolling windows: entire web pages
This feature is often useful to Web designers who need to capture the entire screen of a Web site very long. It also has an excellent management sections of portions of the screen, adjust it on the keyboard.

Moreover FastStone Capture has many of the features of WinSnap as manipulation of the captured, ability to insert labels, shadows, effects of superimposed, and more.

Notable people, the function of Screen Color Picker, really a salvation - of time - in some cases, the function and Screen Magnifier, really well implemented - eventually. Try it, it's worth.
