Very short tricks like proxy RSS with SimplePie

If you use Flash or Ajax to read RSS feeds from other domains, you need to equip yourself with a proxy (tunneling) because of the protections imposed by both technologies (see tunneling and proxy server for Ajax and not only ). If your site or blog is already SimplePie , you can write a simple proxy in this way:

Internet Explorer: the biggest viral campaign ever made?

Browsers are an essential tool today and most probably the best-known software application in circulation. At one time this record belonged to applications such as Microsoft Word, today the podium is occupied by the application that has revolutionized computing, communication, and perhaps the entire world. Due to its simplicity, the browser has spread rapidly and adaptive skills that few other applications have been able to show: cross platforms (multi-platform) and cross devices (multi-device).
Surfing on the Internet is possible thanks to the browser; we can use it as a PC, a Mac, a handheld, the new "mobile phones".

Internet Explorer 6: eliminate the double margin bug

Among the various funny "interpretations" that Internet Explorer 6 is able to do with HTML / CSS, the "double margin" is definitely the most tedious and often. In practice (surprise, surprise ...) good browser Microsoft succeeds - mysteriously - to double the margins on the elements set to float! : As such the following CSS applied to a div with id box :

Upgrading to WordPress 2.7

Like many I ran I upgrade to WordPress 2.7. Everything went well, as usual, except for two Plugins:

Lighter Menus no longer makes sense in the new interface of WordPress, then disable it (and delete it) before performing the upgrade.

For Simple Tags , however, you have to change a line of code that is causing the malfunction of the Plugin with the release of WordPress 2.7. To do this go to the editor inside WordPress Plugin and select Simple Tags. The line:

1
strpos ( $wp_version , '2.5' ) !== false || strpos ( $wp_version , '2.6' ) !== false ) { if ( strpos ($ wp_version, '2 .5 ')! == false | | strpos ($ wp_version, '2 .6 ')! == false) {

It must become:

1
strpos ( $wp_version , '2.7' ) !== false ) { if ( strpos ($ wp_version, '2 .7 ')! == false) {

Updated and everything will be fine: Always have a backup of your files and database

Very short trick: how to center elements on the page, also on IE5

Not that I always take with me the Internet Explorer, it's just that every damn thing Web development (HTML and CSS) seems not to work with the browser - still - the most widespread (one day someone will explain to me why). ; A very convenient method to place an item in the middle of the browser window is to the property sfrutture auto style margin ; For example, here is how to position a div in the center of the screen:

How I did it: How to Create a sticker-ribbon in 3 steps

The sticker (or ribbon) are those images that are positioned at the top right or top left, and commonly have an angular shape headband. There are various types, from simple static images to the most spectacular Flash movies. Sometimes they are so constructed as to remain in their position even when we scroll the contents of the browser window.
