I have a tradition that I carry on for 25 years! That gladly celebrate! Since that day, 1983, the year of its release, I must once a year by watching WarGames (War Games), the film has decided that, somehow, my destiny work.
WarGames , in its "current" simplicity, at the time was a real success, especially among computer enthusiasts. Still limited spread, the home computer - mainly concentrated in the gaming console followed by magazines - was in its infancy. In Italy, then, the gap with the United States was huge (and sometimes still is). The movie made me fall in love with those wonderful technologies immediately. At the time, bought American magazines (such as Compute! Gazette ) that showed a fascinating world - to me - totally unknown.
In times not very suspicious when I did not know what does the abbreviation MODEM, the film showed the possibility of connection between two computers, something really fantastic!
Drives, Floppy indeed, ten inches, console IMASAI and MODEM to your headphones.
The plot, then, quite likely, is still the most accurate - computationally speaking - I've ever seen. Often, in fact, in almost all films that deal with computer hackers and whatever, you see and feel things very curious and quite unbelievable. In WarGames , instead, the "computer part" is really well taken care of, In the fascinating thing that probably has influenced so much of its viewers. With the purchase of my first computer, a fantastic Commodore 64 with Datassette cartridges and two games ( Radar Rat Race and Visible Solar System ), began my adventure computer with still images in mind of WarGames .
I still remember that, without even opening the instruction book, the first thing you type on the blue screen of logon was 64! How Not to mention, then, the legendary Joshua! One of "my" password more abused, especially in the backdoor ![]()
For those who have not yet seen it I recommend viewing, despite his 25 years there is still noticeable at all ... and maybe something more.

how to disagree
and we connected with that to some computers and to the very first BBS
Add the brother of one of my closest friends, and IBM executive was brought to my friend a "Telephone Coupler" was so called, then the modem
hello
I share a passion for WarGames although, to be honest, though much fictionalized, the film that opened my "definitely" the gates of information technology was Tron (Walt Disney).
@ Christian: TRON is fantastic! I still remember when I was trying to figure out what the film was made in cumputer graphics and what-not! An unforgettable experience, at least for the time. Add at this point, two other interesting features: The Pirates of Silicon Valley, pseudo-biography of the "war" between Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and Synapse, in its way interesting ...
[...] Class. In the next lesson will achieve the classic game of Tic Tac Toe (also quoted in honor WarGames) in detail so as to see more features of the class [...]
WarGames (War Games) is one of the cornerstones of my filmography. In retrospect, make of the impressive reading, this could only please me.
David Lightman was my icon ever since I saw the film at the cinema, as a kid.
