Photoshop tutorial: planet with rising sun

image

STEP 1

Create an image of 800 × 600 pixels. Add a layer (bck) - which will be our background - and draw space. It must be a dark picture! You can enjoy you realize it or place (as I did), some spectacular images of NASA, by adjusting the levels so that it is still dark. From the Filter menu select Render / Lens Flare - we create our sun! You can do this "rise" where you want ... I have placed at the center to the top of the picture:

STEP 2

We add a new layer (glow planet), this will contain the main glow around the planet. Draw a circle with the ellipse tool image , The color you want and with a diameter of about 2/3 of the final planet - I used a diamtero of about 285 pixels. At this point set the effects of the layer in the following way:

image

Glow color: # ffffff. Adjust the transparency of the layer by means of "filling" and bring it to 0%. You should get:

STEP 3

Even add a layer (a flash copy planet), this will contain a secondary glow. Create a circle once again, a bit 'larger than the first. Place it over the first circle, aligning it where the sun rises. Set the effects of this layer in the following way, by adjusting the transparency of "riempimendo" always at 0%.

image

Glow color: # ff4800. It has:

STEP 5

Add the penultimate layer (planet). Always draw a circle, the larger this time it is important to use a black (# 000000), allineamolo always where the sun rises. This time we do not change the transparency. Just add an inner shadow effect:

Shadow Color: # bfd3ff. Should we obtain:

This is enough! ;) However, for those who just want to be a perfectionist or a maniac for detail, you can add the details of the surface. So let's add the last layer and use any image of a planet, including our Earth! I used a photo of Mars:

Resize the image so that it matches the size of our planet. Set to "Overlay" the method of superposition of layers:

Finished ;)

Tutorial for the creation of a planet in space with the effect of the rising of a star or sun behind. It exploits the ability of Photoshop to obtain transparency without affecting on the effects ....
