Xopus: WYSIWYG XML editor
Tuesday, March 13, 2007Xopus is an XML editor (HTML) in WYSIWYG mode working inside the browser. I had already noticed some time ago, thanks to an article published on Ajaxian. As I note in what remains an attractive proposal in view web2.0/editor. It is an interesting experience! Xopus has developed really well (with support Italian), with an excellent implementation of the context menu, although still not fully cross-browser, the current release 3.1 is only supported on Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 6 and 7 ) however the developers have promised an early release at least compatible with Firefox (February 1 was released in alpha version 3.1.1 compatible in Firefox 2.0 +).
As discussed elsewhere, the issue of compatibility (cross browser) through the browser slows down and penalizes the development of tools that, even without resorting to special technologies like Java applets or Adobe Flash, could bring a significant contribution to the community! Conttibuto prevented - at last - from unnecessary internal struggles of the current producers of browsers: IE, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Safari, ...!
Through viewing the demo also sees something more than simple HTML editor, to put it bluntly. Xopus proposes is the classic structure of the editor, and advanced features in the style of Microsoft Word. You can, in fact, enter the page real intelligent objects that meet certain characteristics, making Xopus a particular case.
As stated on the website:
Xopus is a good solution for any business that has a back-end content management system and a front-end publishing-system and therefore Which two systems use the same information. To structure that information, to make both ends meet, is therefore a must.
You can watch the video demonstration that introduces the advanced editing features. Also you can directly try a demo.

We are using xopus 3:11 and we will recommend to all the people that need a wysiwyg module for the application.
